THIS EMERGING WORLD – WOVEN WITH TEXTILES
The exhibition ‘This Emerging World – woven with textiles’ focuses on textile as a medium that is currently the starting point for the work of many artists, craftsmen, designers and architects. The shows in a Danish context how different art forms meet in a textile intersection.
Textile is of course present in our lives and relates to contexts with which we are familiar. We feel safe, and when it is used in artistic contexts, it has the potential to bring something surprising and innovative with it, because it often speaks directly to our everyday lives. It can question and shake fundamental perceptions of how we live our lives.
Artistically, textile today forms a genre-breaking field. An open field that it is possible to approach with many different approaches and starting points. That it is textile that has become the exponent of such a significant genre break was perhaps unforeseeable. But the fact is that the textile is currently the subject of great attention across disciplines – a great melting pot.
Web, not Waste is part of the exhibition.
The exhibition is curated by Torgny Wilcke, Anne Fabricius Møller and Ingrid Kæseler
